Preparation for entry into Germany

CHECK REQUIREMENTS

The only prerequisite we have is that you must have at least secondary modern with 2 years job experience or intermediate modern secondary school.

DO I NEED A VISA AS A CITIZEN OF THE EUROPEAN UNION?

Citizens of the EU do not need a visa or residence permit to enter Germany. The same applies if you come from Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway or Switzerland (EFTA countries).

Special arrangement for specific countries

Citizens of Andorra, Australia, Brazil, El Salvador, Honduras, Canada, Israel, Japan, Monaco, New Zealand, Republic of Korea, San Marino, USA or United Kingdom of Great Britain can enter Germany without a visa.

You must apply for a residence permit upon arrival in Germany if you plan to stay longer than 90 days.

APPOINTMENT REQUEST EMBASSY

All other countries must apply for a visa at the appropriate German embassy or consulate prior to entry.

Please note: The German embassies provide information on their websites about possible waiting times when applying for an appointment and any additional documents that may be required.

ENTRY / HEALTH INSURANCE

Entry cleared? Book your trip to Germany.

You need a valid health insurance from the first day of entry.

For this you can contact one of the public health insurance companies like the AOK or technician health insurance Thereby you will conclude a contract for students. You can also find cheap expats insurances here.

Take some cash with you to do your first shopping.

APPLY FOR A RESIDENCE PERMIT

There is a “registration obligation” in Germany. You must go to registration office or citizen office. Book an appointment at the citizen office early.

Make an appointment at the local immigration office to apply for a residence permit.

PROOF OF FUNDING

As a non-EU citizen you usually have to present a proof of financing when applying for a visa. You will need it at the latest when you apply for a residence permit in Germany.

Be sure to ask the German embassy in your country in which form you have to provide the proof!

Europa

Students from the European Union or EFTA countries do not need a visa.
